The Hamida Barmaki Ph.D. Scholarship program provides opportunities for talented jurists to write their Ph.D. thesis at renowned institutions in Germany or other countries, working alongside internationally renowned scientists. The program is organized by the Max Planck Foundation, Heidelberg (Germany), with the support of the Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law.
The program is open to research in different areas of law with specific preference on academic contribution to Afghanistan legal system, research and literature. The scholarship includes (examples):
- Assistance in finding a Ph.D. Supervisor
- Financing research stays abroad
- Guidance regarding individual’s topic and your research
- Access to Hamida Barmaki Library
- Participation in conferences, language courses and workshops
The Hamida Barmaki Scholarship program is primarily designed for academics who will return to their home country to teach at the state universities and carry out high caliber research in the fields of law, individuals who are able to work independently, set their own schedule and work at times with little academic supervision.
