Hamida Barmaki Organization for the Rule of Law (HBORL) organized a capacity building training in Balkh province from 14th till 16th July 2019 for three days on “Linkage between Formal and Informal Justice system in Afghanistan” with close cooperation of CORDAID and financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands.
The purpose of the training was to develop the linkage between the formal and informal justice systems. Increase the cooperation and collaboration between the two systems, and enhance their knowledge about legal practices in Afghanistan and to increase Rule of Law and access to Justice especially for women and girls.
Participants from, Department of Justice, Ulama council, Department of women’s affairs, Afghanistan Independent Bar Association, Department of Tribes, Appeal attorney of Balkh province, Afghan independent Human rights commission and Haj and pilgrimage participated in the training.
The topics discussed were: Introduction to Justice, duties, and responsibilities of Justice departments, the importance of the linkage between the formal and informal justice systems and advantages and disadvantages of both systems. The participants also discussed the topics during group work and open discussion.
A representative of the department of justice said: The program that we had in three days was very instructive, especially the Hamida barmaki organization for the rule of law is using professional approach for the capacity development the forgotten issues have been refreshed. The training has been finished with certificate distribution.
